The Porsche 911 Carrera S will give you everything that the regular Carrera can and more! Its 345-horsepower is produced by its 3.6-liter boxer engine, but has added the benefit of the new Porsche's intelligent all-wheel drive system. The PASM system electronically measures and controls the calculated angles of the car instead of focusing on the old multi-plate clutch. This all-wheel drive system is an improved version of the system that was made for the more powerful 911 Turbo. The electronic adjustments of the suspension system regulates the force of each wheel continuously depending on the condition of the roads and the driving style of the driver. The PASM is optional for all models with the 3.6-liter engine.
The Porsche 911 Carrera S allows the driver to select between two different driving methods: Normal and Sport. Normal is a blend of performance and comfort. Sport creates and much firmer balance between performance and comfort creating a racetrack like experience. The two methods of course overlap slightly so that the balance between comfortable and sporty is met more effectively that a conventional engine frame. Sensors monitor the movement of the frame; under heavy acceleration, braking, or uneven road conditions to help maintain and control the force angles and calculate the appropriate hardness for the selected mode. This helps to lower roll and pitch and help increase the contact between each wheel and the road surface. The PASM is an automatic system that enables increases and decreases as the road and driving conditions change ensuring driving stability and road safety and every moment of every drive. The PASM sport engine frame is only offered as an option for the Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe models and only with the 19'' wheels.
The Porsche 911 also has a headlight cleaning system that is built-in.
You also have the option to add cornering lights, that hug every corner of that dark canyon road. This is made possible by sensors that continuously monitor your speed, lateral acceleration and steering lock, in turn calculating the course of every bend. The Porsche 911 Carrera S is 20 mm lower then the standard suspension of the 911 Carrera , and 10 mm lower when compared to the S models. The springs are harder and shorter, the stiffness of the lateral stabilizers on the front and the back axle is much greater. The automatic locking at the rear gives even better traction at the back on uneven roads and on tight turns. Increased road holding in these instant moments allows for a comfortable and safe ride and any given time. When traction and road holding is increased the car holds its course much easier and so the PSM has to take control less often.
All Porsche 911 models come with the standard Bi-Xenon headlights. These lights provide brightness up to two times brighter that the average halogen lamp. Whether you are using low or high beams, the lights are stronger and more constant providing enough light at all times ensuring that the driver does not need to strain to see the road. There is also a choice for another optional multifunction steering wheel for PDK. Paddles enable the driver to change gears without ever letting go of the wheel. For increased comfort on those cold days, you can also get steering wheel heating, which only comes when seat heating and PDK are also installed. The heating is controlled by a button on the back of the lower steering wheel spoke.
Cruise control is also available. The automatic speed controller for speeds 20-149 mph. It is activated using separate control panel on the steering column. It can even be used while you are driving in first gear.
The circular dials behind the steering wheel provide needed information quickly and easily. The digital displays in the center-left dial contains the main and trip odometers. The central dial, the customizable display of the standard on-board computer is integrated into the rev counter. Your moment to moment road speed is displayed permanently, while average fuel consumption, average road speed, fuel range can be pulled up when you want or need them.
