Porsche Speedster

When you think of a Porsche speedster, you think class and style. The speedster is a car that is in a class all its own, they are one of the most unique cars available in any market.

They offer you a sense of style that has stood the test of time, from the Porsche's humble begging in 1939. The first speedster was actually introduced in 1954 after the recommendation of an open top lower cost vehicle would sell well in America. Driving in a Porsche is one of the most amazing feelings you will ever have, but in a speedster, the feeling is even better.

The Porsche speedster  is one of the most recognizable vehicles you will see. They are considered to represent class and style like no other vehicle on the market. When you want to show everyone that you have made it and are successful, you purchase a Porsche. When you want them to see you are doing even better than successful you get a speedster, they are more than a car. They represent an entire lifestyle that is associated with prestige and glamor. It is a lifestyle that is only available to those who are at the top of everything in their life.

The first Porsche's built were prior to World War II and Porsche built three Type 64 cars for a race from Berlin to Rome. Sadly, the race was cancelled, but in 1948, a chassis 356 prototype was built and called "No. 1'. Due to this fact, many have debated what the "first" Porsche really is. However, Porsche considers the 356 to be the first and they do not consider the three earlier vehicles to be anything more. The Porsche speedster was not thought of until 1954 when it was suggested by Max Hoffman.

Max Hoffman was the sole United States importer of Porsche's and advised the company to create a lower cost open top version. This suggestion proved to be one of the best Porsche ever followed. By 1957, the speedster topped at 1,171 cars being sold in America. The speedster was epically popular in Southern California, with its widescreen windshield that could be removed for racing, bucket seats, and minimal folding top it was an instant hit. The speedster was later replaced by the "Convertible D" model in 1958, today these early models are considered highly collectable by all auto collectors.
